TikTok Is Failing to Keep Its Own Rules Regarding Gambling Ads

Calls for TikTok to be Banned

There are calls from some Australian lawmakers for the pilot project to be aborted and buried in the sand. They want all gambling advertising to be completely prohibited. The US wants to bury TikTok even deeper under the ground. Every few years, US lawmakers call for the streaming platform to be banned. The US midterm elections and this new campaign to ban TikTok happened simultaneously.

The fact that the Chinese firm ByteDance is responsible for TikTok is at the core of the issue. Despite having substantial support from companies like BlackRock and Sequoia Capital, the company sends all the data it collected previously back to its Chinese headquarters.

Following criticism that user data might go to the CCP (Chinese Communist Party), TikTok relocated its servers to the US. It also said that none of the data could be accessed outside the network. According to some legislators, what TikTok said is not the complete truth.

A ban on TikTok has also been demanded by some representatives of the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) and Department of Justice (DOJ). This scenario doesn’t look likely to happen, but there will undoubtedly be changes.
